About Sierra Nevada Community Sailing
We are a volunteer-based, not-for-profit educational charity
and a Nevada Corporation. Our purpose is to teach water safety and boating
skills to people of all ages and physical abilities in Northern Nevada.
We are funded by donations from the community and by the fees we charge
to those who can afford to pay for lessons and boat use. We are not a
part of the City of Sparks nor do we receive any governmental support
or funding. A sister company, Nevada Boating, leases and manages the private
docks and certain other marina facilities on the Sparks Marina and donates
100% of all profits to Community Sailing. All revenues of Sierra Nevada
Community Sailing are used solely for our teaching programs and to maintain
our boats and equipment. We accept donations of boats, boat trailers and
boating equipment that can be used in or to further our programs.
